Record who has a tool and, if useful, when it should come back.

Before you start

Role needed: any signed-in member. Ask an Owner if an action is unavailable.

Plan needed: This task is available on Free. Existing records may remain available after a downgrade; see the plan guide for details.

1

Open the correct asset

Scan its OrbitEquip label or use Type or Browse. Confirm the result matches the tool in your hand.

Example phone-browser state where the browser cannot find a camera; Type and Browse remain available.
This scan result is ready for a check-out. The sample asset is synthetic.
2

Choose Check out and set the holder

Select Check out. Choose yourself or enter the person or job name shown in the form. Use the correct holder value so the crew can find the current assignment later.

3

Add a return date if the team uses one

Return due date (optional) can be left blank when no return date has been agreed. If you enter one, choose the day the tool should be back, then submit the checkout.

Troubleshooting

Check out is unavailable.

Check: Confirm the asset is Available and is not blocked by unresolved or due maintenance.

Fix: Resolve the maintenance condition with an Owner or Admin, then retry. If the asset is already assigned, check it in first.
