Use OrbitEquip QR Labels and Existing Barcodes

Each asset keeps its OrbitEquip QR identity and may also store one existing manufacturer barcode for lookup.

Understand which identifier OrbitEquip creates and how a manufacturer barcode fits alongside it.

Before you start

No special role or plan requirement is listed for this guide.

1

Keep the OrbitEquip QR as the OrbitEquip identity

OrbitEquip assigns a QR identity to each asset and prints it from Labels. Use this label for the OrbitEquip scan workflow and reprint it when a label is damaged.

Filter labels, then choose Print all labels. The crop ends above QR artwork.
2

Add an existing barcode separately

Open the asset form and enter the value under Existing Barcode, or use Scan Barcode there if the device can read it. Existing barcode values must be unique within the organization.

The form shows the optional fields alongside the required asset name.
3

Look up either identifier in Scan

A signed-in member can use Scan, Type, or Browse to find an asset with its OrbitEquip QR or Existing Barcode. Search also supports asset name and serial number.

Example phone-browser state where the browser cannot find a camera; Type and Browse remain available.
Use Type when you can read an identifier but cannot scan it.

Troubleshooting

An existing barcode points to no asset or the wrong asset.

Check: Compare the scanned value with the asset's Existing Barcode field and confirm it is unique.

Fix: Edit the correct asset with the existing barcode value, then retry from Scan → Type.
