Any signed-in member

Compare the scanned value with the Existing Barcode field and use the right fallback search.

Before you start

Role needed: any signed-in member. Ask an Owner if an action is unavailable.

1

Check whether the barcode was saved

Ask an Owner or Admin to open the asset and compare the physical barcode with the Existing Barcode field.

The form shows the optional fields alongside the required asset name.
Example asset detail header. QR artwork and account profile information are outside the crop.
2

Compare the value

Check for a missing digit, extra space, or use of a Serial Number in place of Existing Barcode. Barcode values must be unique within the organization.

3

Retry with Type or Browse

Enter the stored barcode in Scan → Type, or search by asset name or serial number in Browse. Use the OrbitEquip QR label when it is available.

Use Type when you can read an identifier but cannot scan it.
Browse searches by asset name, serial number, Existing Barcode, or QR code.

Tips

Troubleshooting

A different asset already uses the barcode value.

Check: Search Assets for the barcode and confirm which record should own it.

Fix: Ask an Owner or Admin to correct the duplicate before retrying.
