Physical Audit Shows an Unexpected or Missing Asset
The team understands why the result appeared and records the correct follow-up without rewriting the audit snapshot.
On this page
Compare the fixed expected snapshot with the scan result, then correct the underlying record explicitly.
Before you start
Role needed: Owner or Admin. Ask an Owner if an action is unavailable.
Check the audit scope and start time
Open the audit and confirm its Location or Assignee and when the expected list was captured. A move made after start does not change the fixed snapshot.
Confirm the physical asset and current record
Compare the asset name, status, saved location, current holder, and scan result. A tool found outside the expected snapshot appears Unexpected; an expected tool not scanned by completion appears Missing.
Use an explicit follow-up
An Owner or Admin can Accept Current State, use Move to Audited Location when the item is eligible in a Location Audit, or correct custody through Scan for an Assignee Audit.
Tips
Keep in mind
Troubleshooting
The item still appears as Missing or Unexpected after reconciliation.
Check: Review the reconciliation status on the audit item.
Fix: The result is intentionally preserved. Use its recorded reconciliation action and update the asset's separate operational record if needed.
